Botswana Explorer Trip

> Africa > Botswana

Featuring: Kalahari Desert, the Moremi Game Reserve, and Victoria Falls

Length: 10 Days / 9 Nights

Trip Includes:

  • Tour includes R/T air from USA, all park entrance fees, airport, transfers
  • Tour includes guide and driver, most meals, guaranteed window seat

Itinerary Highlights:

DAY 1-Depart USA
Depart the USA for an overnight flight to Europe.

DAY 2- Arrive Victoria Falls
Arrive in Europe early this morning. You will then take a connecting flight to Victoria Falls (located in Zimbabwe, just across the Botswanan border), arriving later this evening. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to the Victoria Falls Hotel.

DAY 3 & 4- Victoria Falls – Chobe National Park
Start your morning with an escorted walking tour of the five separate waterfalls that make up Africa’s awe-inspiring Victoria Falls. After lunch, take a short drive to Chobe National Park. The first thing you’ll probably see are the elephants: Chobe is home to the world’s largest refuge of these majestic creatures. You can game ride through Chobe’s lion, cheetah, and zebra-filled Savuti marsh or experience the rock-painted Gubatsaa Hills. Adrenaline seekers should take Chobe Game Lodge’s boat excursion, which puts visitors safely amid hundreds of crocodiles and hippos. Spend your evenings at the infamous Chobe Game Lodge or Chobe Chilwero.

DAY 5-Tsodilo Hills – Kalahari Desert
After breakfast ride to the Tsodilo Hills, or “Eyelids of the Sunrise.” There, glittering rocks and colorful rock-painted hills will delight your senses. After lunch, safari into Kalahari’s Deception Valley and see its famous prides of lions. After you explore the desert, take a quick flight to the Okavango Delta, and stay at Shindi, a deluxe eight tent camp, or Xugana, with chalets resting on a lagoon bank.

DAY 6 & 7-Okavango Delta – Moremi Game Reserve
Explore Okavango’s papyrus-lined streams and astounding array of wildlife while on a makoro (canoe) tour. Within the delta lies the Moremi Game Reserve where you will see sitatunga antelope, the nesting grounds of the Pels fishing owl (the largest owl in the world), a variety of carnivores, and more than 550 species of birds. At Chief’s Island (the largest in the delta), travelers can view ancient rock art. End your days under the stars, around a roaring African campfire at Shindi or Xugana.

DAY 8-Ghanzi – Gaborone
Take an early game ride around the Okavango, and then drive to Ghanzi. This is an excellent place to buy handicrafts made by natives, such as bows and arrows, dyed cloth, and jewelry. Revel in a dusky African sunset, and then take a quick flight into Gaborone, staying at the Sun Hotel. If you’re still feeling energetic, the Sun Hotel will offer you some of the city’s best evening entertainment.

DAY 9-Depart Gaborone
Enjoy a delicious breakfast at the Sun Hotel before departing for your overnight flight to Europe.

DAY 10-Depart Europe – Arrive USA
Connect in Europe this morning for your USA bound flight. Day rooms will be reserved for you to freshen up before you depart. You will arrive in the USA in the evening.
