Papua New Guinea Highlights

Length: 14 days / 13 nights

Itinerary Highlights:

Day 1
Flight from Port Moresby to Madang, where you will transfer to the Malolo Plantation Lodge. Originally a coconut plantation, the lodge has a tropical and casual atmosphere; each of its 14 rooms is air-conditioned and offers a balcony or garden patio overlooking the ocean. Dinner will be provided on this first night.

Days 2-3
A half day tour is provided each day with a balance of time for many optional activities or for relaxing. Activities may include snorkeling around the blue lagoons, sea kayaking to the remote island cays, scuba diving among colorful coral reefs, or trekking through rainforests to view the many species of birds and orchids. Breakfast Lunch and Dinner included.

Day 4
Flight from Madang to Mount Hagen to experience a full day of touring this frontier town, including visiting some of the exotic cultural tribes endemic to this area. Overnight stay in Mt Hagen with breakfast and lunch included.

Day 5
Flight from Mount Hagen to Karawari, transfer to the Kawari Lodge, with afternoon activities. Lunch and dinner are included. The lodge is nestled in the jungle overlooking the Karawari river and offers traditional styled houses with twin bedrooms and private baths as well as a spacious pool.

Day 6
Enjoy a full day of activities which may include bird watching and orchid tours or day trekking and adventure programs in their special river “trucks” visiting isolated villages to witness ceremonies few outsiders have ever seen. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included.

Days 7-9
Transfer by riverboat from Karawari Lodge to join the MV Sepik Spirit, a luxurious “floating lodge” with 9 twin en-suite bedrooms for 3 nights of cruising the Middle Sepik River area. Off vessel activities may include village and culture study, art collecting, bird watching and canoeing. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 10
Flight from Sepik to Tari where you will transfer to the Ambua Lodge, located among mountain rainforests overlooking the Tari Valley for a three night stay. Breakfast lunch and dinner included.

Days 11-12
Experience full days of excursions and activities, which may include a village and cultural study to see the flamboyant Huli Wigmen, an adventure trek across vine bridges to a secluded waterfall, or a nature hike to view the bird of paradise, orchids and rhododendrons that cover the valley.

Day 13
Flight from Tari to Mount Hagen with a connecting flight to Port Moresby where you will transfer to hotel for an overnight stay with breakfast included.

Day 14
Transfer to international departure flight.
