Itinerary Highlights:

DAY 1-Depart USA
Arrive Sydney

DAY 2- Blue Mountains/Wildlife Park/Koalas
Enjoy a full day tour to the picturesque Blue Mountains, including the 3 Sisters and a visit to the Australian Wildlife Park for up close encounters with koalas and kangaroos.

DAY 3- Sydney
Spend the day exploring Sidney, including a visit to the Opera House and a walking tour of the Circular Quay. Board a cruiser and enjoy the scenic harbour. Explore some of Australia’s famous beaches as well.

DAY 4-Sydney/Burbong Sheep Station
Head south through Mittagong to Burbong Sheep Station to see a demonstration of sheep shearing and working sheep dogs. Travel to Australia’s national capital, Canberra and Mt. Ainslie for a panoramic view of the city.

DAY 5-Parliament House/War Memorial/Lake Jindabyne
Tour the embassies and one of Australia’s most acclaimed buildings, Parliament House, followed by a visit to the War Memorial. Then journey into the high country through Cooma.

DAY 6-Mt. Kosciusko/Albury
Travel into Mt. Kosciusko National Park and Thredbo, Australia’s premier alpine resort. Ride the chair lift to “Eagles Nest” to view the alpine scenery. Follow the Alpine Way across the roof of Australia to Khancoban. You may see kangaroos in their natural habitat.

DAY 7-Beechworth/Melbourne
Journey through the beautiful Kiewa Valley to Bright where the trees provide a splendid display of color during autumn. Continue to Beechworth, of the best preserved gold towns. Visit Brown Brothers Winery before traveling to Melbourne.

DAY 8-Penguins
After a morning at leisure, visit Phillip Island, home of the largest colony of fairy penguins in the world. Visit the penguin reserve and observe a group of penguins waddle from the sea to their burrows in the sand dunes.

DAY 9-Melbourne/Coober Pedy/Opal Mines
Fly to Adelaide for a connecting flight to Coober Pedy. Enjoy a tour of this fascinating township where half the population live underground. Visit an underground home and church and Umoona Opal Mine. See opal cutting and polishing demonstrations.

DAY 10-Breakaways/Ayers Rock
See the mysterious Breakaways, a low range of colored outcrops featured in famous Australian films. Continue across the Northern Territory border passing vast outback cattle stations.

DAY 11-Ayers Rock/the Olgas
Visit the Uluru Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre to learn of the unique culture of the Anangu aboriginal people. Explore the mighty domes of the Olgas, known as Kata Tjuta.

DAY 12-Ayers Rock/ Kings Canyon Rim Walk
Travel through remote desert terrain to Kings Creek Ranch, a huge cattle station also specializing in camel herding for export. There is an opportunity this afternoon to climb to the top of Kings Canyon for a spectacular view of the sheer red walls.

DAY 13-Hermannsburg/Standley Chasm/Alice Springs
Travel through aboriginal land to Hermannsburg Historic Precinct. Visit the museum, church and art gallery where original works by local aboriginal Artist Albert Namatjira are on display. Tour the beautiful West MacDonnell Ranges and visit Standley Chasm, a dramatic 30 foot break in the Range.

DAY 14-Alice Springs/Cairns
Visit School of the Air and see how children of the remote outback cattle stations receive their education, via radio transmission. At the unique Desert Park, explore the lands, plants and animals.

DAY 15-Great Barrier Reef/Fitzroy Island/Coral Viewing
A true highlight is a full day’s tour and cruise to Fitzroy Island, a magnificent National Park island. Enjoy free time relaxing on the white coral beach or join an escorted walk through the lush rainforest. Continue to Moore Reef, located on the true Outer Barrier Reef. Enjoy views of coral and topical fish in the sub-sea viewer of snorkel among the coral and tropical fish of the Great Barrier Reef.

DAY 16-Skyrail/Kuranda Train
Join the Skyrail Rainforest Cable way, taking in superb views as you travel over the World Heritage rainforest to Kuranda. After free time to browse through the quaint shops, board the scenic Kuranda Train as it makes it way down the mountain range, passing breathtaking Barron Falls to Cairns.

DAY 17-Cairns
Free time for sightseeing before transfer to the Cairns airport for your return flight.
