Botswana offers a variety of sights, textures and experiences to visitors. Its rich and diverse environment ranges from lush river delta to arid desert. The ecologically unique Okavango River empties inland to the Kalahari Desert, creating one of the largest river deltas in the world. The result is an wondrous reserve that includes a multitude of small islands and an astounding variety of birds, plants, and smaller species of animals.
Other highlights include Chobe National Park, known for its enormous elephant population, and the Makgadikgadi salt pans, home to an abundance of flamingos. Most of this country about the size of Texas is covered by the vast Kalahari. Though you won’t find many humans here, it is one of the richest wildlife regions in all of Africa.
