Honduras offers amazing beauty in many protected areas with 20 national parks, 10 wildlife refuges and 10 biological reserves. Honduras is home to more than 600 species of birds and rare animals, such as jaguars, scarlet macaws, howler monkeys and the elusive Caribbean manatee.

The Bay Islands of Honduras are known for exquisite white sand beaches and clear turquoise waters.

There are several gorgeous islands in the Bay Islands chain, including the islands of Roatan, Guanaja, and Utila. Honduras shares with its northern neighbor, Belize, the second largest barrier reef on the planet.

The underwater coral formations and abundant marine life make the Bay Island’s especially attractive to snorkelers and divers. A highlight in Honduras is Copan, perhaps the most enchanting of all Mayan archaeological sites.
