Guyana is a small nation on the Northeast coast of South America. With only one dirt road through the country, traveling here can be rustic and creative. Most of the population of Guyana live along the coastal plain. Beyond that most of the country is covered by dense inland forest with over 1000 different varieties of timber. Isolated from the rest of the country are the highlands with mountain savannas, home to the native Amerindian people. Guyana’s unspoiled rain forests are home to hundreds of species of exotic birds and wildlife including; Howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys, tapirs, sloths, and many varieties of toucans, parrots and macaws.
