Honduras: Guanaja and Utila Island Resorts
Bayman Bay Club
A “Robinson Crusoe” retreat, Bayman Bays’ 18 ocean view rooms are set high in the mountain side secluded among mango, papaya, and breadfruit trees. The view from this resort is extraordinary, overlooking one of the finest beaches in the Bay Islands. A three level clubhouse features a dining room, bar, gift shop, library, and sunset veranda. Bayman Bay offers great snorkeling and diving just offshore. Activities at Bayman Bay include ocean kayaking, unlimited shore diving, and excursions to a nearby jungle waterfall.
Posada Del Sol
This Mexican style villa is a luxury retreat with a fresh water swimming pool, tennis court, and 24 rooms with tiled floors, terraces, and marble baths. Poolside, hillside and oceanfront rooms are available and excellent scuba diving is close by. There is world class fishing for bonefish, tarpon and snook in the nearby flats. Activities include scuba diving, light tackle fishing, deep sea fishing, windsurfing, water skiing, and a waterfall hike.
Fifteen miles west of Roatan, Utila Lodge has 8 air conditioned rooms. The restaurant-clubhouse is built on stilts over water so clear that eagle rays can be seen under the dock. A full service dive shop, good beaches, hiking, kayaking, and fishing are available on this lovely island. Whale shark and dolphin sightings are common. Large pelagics, like blue marlin and sailfish, are spotted here more frequently than anywhere else in the islands The deep sea fishing is excellent including Blue Marlin, and there is light tackle fishing in the flats for bonefish and tarpon.
