PNG Live Aboards
Features: Liveaboards in PNG offer many itineraries throughout the season to take advantage of the diversity of dive destinations.
In Milne Bay which is famous for its biodiversity there is stunning hard and soft coral, many species of manta rays, the world’s best “Muck” diving and the best aircraft wreck. Near the eastern side of Torres Strait in the Coral Sea the pelagic marine life includes schools of large dog tooth, blue fin tuna, and schools of horse eye jacks and spiralling barracuda. Sharks include grey reef sharks and silver tips as hammerhead sharks. The strong currents of Kavieng attract schools of trevally, barracuda, grey reef sharks, eagle rays and reef fish.
MV Golden Dawn
The Golden Dawn accommodates 12 passengers. Some cabins have ensuites and all have A/C. There are 2 rigid hull inflatables to allow divers flexibility in dive lengths. Nitrox and rebreathers are available.
The Telita offers flexible itineraries going to Mine Bay from Mid November to March, and beginning in April 2006 to the Nuigini Islands (Kimbe, Kavieng and Rabaul). Its small size – a crew of eight and a maximum of ten guests, guarantees a high level of personalized service. The boat offers five luxurious cabins all with ensuite bathrooms, indoor and outdoor dining facilities, a brand new Nitrox membrane system, free laundry service and a DVD and reading library. There are up to five dives per day and the spacious dive deck including a camera table, hot showers and with 2 inflatable tenders available.
Diving either the Gazelle Peninsula or Witus and Kimbe Bay, the 120 ft. Star Dancer will accommodate 16 divers in 8 comfortable cabins. Four or five dives daily are available. Divers will encounter dog tooth tuna, sharks, large schools of pelagics and an occasional billfish, dolphin or whale.
Paradise Sport is designed to be the world’s best live aboard. The 100 ft x 33 ft catamaran design provides stability and space for 20 divers. Paradise Sport provides nitrox facilities, a photo and video lab, and a lounge designed for video and slide presentations. A cruising speed of 16 knots allows for flexible itineraries. Cruises will generally be in the Milne Bay or Kavieng areas. There are 3 cabin classes from suites with king beds, TV/Video and private bathroom to economy class for a total of 10 cabins. Cruises range from 7 to 10 nights offering fascinating marine life, World War II wrecks, big fish and unlimited diving.
The MV Chertan is a 60 ft. dive boat with 6 twin air-conditioned berths. Cruising the islands of Milne Bay Province, the MV Chertan specializes in rare macro photography and seeks out manta rays, hammerheads, whales and whale sharks. It operates 10 day cruises. The MV Chertan is designed to offer unlimited diving as well as an introduction to the local culture by visiting native villages.
The MV FeBrina is a 72 ft. luxury live-aboard vessel which accommodates up to 12 guests on trips from 7 to 12 days. Diving the waters of Kimbe Bay, Lolobau Island, and Bali Vitu Islands, the FeBrinaÍs 6 spacious guest cabins have personally controlled air-conditioning. Diving from the FeBrina is unlimited. The waters of Kimbe Bay teem with marine life. E-6 processing is available on board and the vessel also carries on request a slide projector and viewer. Ample deck area provides easy access to dive gear and an attentive crew is on hand to assist divers.
